ORIENTATION

Duties and Responsibilities

Caregivers learn about their professional role, ethical responsibilities, and the importance of reliability, respect, and confidentiality when supporting clients.


Housekeeping Services

Training covers light household duties that contribute to a safe and comfortable living environment, including laundry, cleaning, meal preparation, and maintaining hygiene in the home.


Levels of Care

The course explains the differences between personal care, nurse aide care, and health care services, including the limits of each role, ensuring caregivers understand their scope of practice.


Consumer Rights

Participants are introduced to the rights of those receiving care, including dignity, privacy, informed choice, and freedom from abuse or neglect.


Abuse and Neglect Prevention

The training emphasizes how to recognize, prevent, and report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation, ensuring the safety and well-being of all clients.


Handwashing and Infection Control

Caregivers are trained in proper hand hygiene and infection control procedures to reduce the spread of illness and protect both clients and staff.


Assignment and Supervision of Services

The course explains how services are assigned, the importance of following care plans, and the role of supervisors in guiding and supporting caregivers.


Observation, Reporting, and Documentation

Caregivers learn how to observe changes in client condition, accurately report concerns, and document care activities in line with professional and legal requirements.


Emergency Response

Participants are prepared to act in emergencies by following agency policies, contacting emergency services, and knowing who to call for immediate support.
